Chocolate-Red Wine Bundt Cake

  • bundt cake pan
  • stand or hand mixer


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 ¼ tsps baking soda
  • ½ tsps salt
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • cups white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • cups dry red wine (I used Merlot.)
  • Confectioner's sugar, for dusting
  • Whipped cream, for serving


  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Grease your bundt pan with either butter and flour or cooking spray.
  • Whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  • Cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat eggs in one at a time. Add in vanilla and beat well for a few more minutes.
  • Alternate between adding in a bit of the wine and the dry ingredients into the mixer bowl while stirring slowly.
  • Pour batter into pan and level.
  • Bake for 45 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
  • Cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Carefully remove from the pan and allow to cool completely on a cooling rack.
  • Dust with powdered sugar, serve with whipped cream, and enjoy!
