Who writes this blog?

My name is Elizabeth, and I’m from Cut Off, Louisiana, more commonly known as “the bayou.” Exploring the cultural connection between food and literature is my passion. I live to read, and I love to eat, so here we are!

What is Dinner and a Novel?

Dinner and a Novel’s mission is to celebrate the art and joy found in eating and reading. I truly believe that history shows itself in the cuisines of the world, and I know no better realm to different experiences, perspectives, and cultures than reading. I am not a picky eater, nor a picky reader, so here you’ll find a variety of genres and treats.

What do we do here?

Not only will I briefly review my reads, but I’ll also highlight a few choice recipes from each book. We’ll discuss the significance of the dish, its connection to the story, and perhaps even a little historical context if I feel like going a little crazy. Just here for the food? A list of all recipes featured in this blog can be found by clicking Recipes on the menu at the top of this page.
